Tons of projects are yammering in queue giving me a sharp stare. So while they are waiting for my precious time to suffice their longing, I will begin by featuring the one hanging in my daughter’s room for a year now. We have a lot of Friday magazines at home piling up like crazy.
I know, I know I can use it for paper maché, but if I do I sure will have a museum. Anyway, here’s a cool idea to make use of old newspapers or magazines before it hits your trash bin. This will evoke the environmentally friendly and creative flair in you.
I was thinking of what to blog and I am totally disinclined to get my fingers tap the keyboard. I don’t know if I was caught up with huge (or I just thought so) errands or been struck by idleness. I drag myself to sit on my chair and let the words flow and what do you know? It does the trick.
A friend . or so I thought (not anymore and it’s a blessing..It’s a long story) and I had a trip to IKEA to pick up items that would complete my long-awaited decorating plan to be carried out.
excited! It’s part sale.
It’s quite vague whether we’re frantic about what a wonderful world of furnishings and beauteous room ideas or was it after 2 long hours of driving we can fill our hollowed tummy growling next to each other.
Most days I am in my best mood of hanging out in the kitchen and happily trying out new recipes, but this day…. I feel too heavy to get up from the bed and I don’t feel like doing anything ( sounds like a lyrics from a song ) anyway, Hunny’s home from his morning jog, he even brought me coffee in bed before he freshens up (how sweet! ). I checked my mobile phone to check social networks. I was surprised with wide eyes literally, to see that everyone has posted their Father’s Day greetings and so as my husband. I think I am the only person in the world who has a total ignorance of the passing day and no sense of calendar dates (I thought only in directions and maps).
I got up, greeted him with a hug and say “What do you want me to make today?” (pretending I did not forget his day), he replied with a big smile “Bread pudding”. .huuuh sigh! I thought he will say ” oh that’s alright do not bother” …
Dragging my feet I began to concede to his request.
Hunny and I went hunting for my most coveted MOD PODGE.
After having our brunch we hurriedly hopped to another mall and continue our search. But there was an insatiable feel in my mouth which I obviously know the answer to, coffee! And in the coffee shop, you’ll see so much more to excite your eyes.
This is the best part, I was greeted by the cheesecakes near the counter, and ooh as always they are mesmerizing. As I promised myself last week “I’ll give in to its calling the next time”, so I yield to its wishes. Sadly though, I got no photo of the Dulce de Leche cheesecake who befriended me dearly, but, I say it was wonderful.
I planned a week before, that I’ll be making New York Cheesecake my least favorite of all the cheesecakes. Maybe because it is denser and different in texture than the melt-in-the-mouth softness of the usual kind. SO why am I going to make one? Simple, it’s the glory of conquering what I dislike or makes me uncomfortable. Just like when I say I won’t get into baking, here I am pushed myself to find out maybe it wasn’t so bad after all.

Baking, Baking… I am really amazed by people who can bake, i used to watch my aunt bake a lot of goodies every weekend when i was a kid, she definitely loves to stack up on food in her fridge. But i find baking very tiring and messy, so i made a vow that i wouldn’t really try.
So after having kids i broke the vow, okay maybe i can do the simplest one for my kids like brownies and muffins, and so i did and found it very flattering to find out my kids liked it. Hubby started to buy me baking books. When i was pregnant with my fourth child, i decided to try one from the book and my cake turned out hard as a rock and i got frustrated, my second take was a doughnut that my colleague from work used to bring all the time. It was tasty ! i got inspired to try once more and out of impatience, i just left the kitchen without finishing what i started, hubby has to clean up the flour and all.
Last few weeks i remembered the uninspiring memory of my doughnut trial, i gave it a go again and very hopeful with fingers crossed, that it would turn out well. and if it did then i believe i’m into a new endeavor of my life…. Baking! So, now it’s 2012 and after the failed trial last 2005, here are the photos of the night the doughnut was born in my kitchen.
ODD, as what you may call it, most of the flats here are very generous of doors to separate every room with different functions, seemingly a labyrinth. The one that we got was impressively unique too, upon entering the door a very short hallway will greet you, and on the left-hand side, you’ll find the kitchen and on the opposite side, with a few steps, you are ready to dine.
I painted one side of the wall an exciting color as a focal point. Inviting to the eyes once you enter my tiny hallway. The drop lights and the light blue lamp were from my fave Swedish store but the frame was from a thrift local shop.
